Linda Keane

Linda Keane, AIA, artist, architect and academic, is passionate about greening public imagination. She combines a regenerative architecture and environmental design practice with creative media projects, critical writings and public workshops collaborating with diverse public groups in creation of transformative learning experiences.

Co-founder of STUDIO 1032 with Mark Keane, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, she contributes to sustainable initiatives along the Milwaukee- Chicago corridor emphasizing environmental conservation and smart growth guidelines. Her projects include the City of Chicago Green Roof Website, Milwaukee’s North East Side Plan, Milwaukee River Corridor, Milwaukee's Ecological Lakefront, and Greenway and Greening Goose Island. She writes, lectures and publishes on necessity of nurturing public creativity founded in systems thinking. Her publications include ARCHITECTURE an INTERACTIVE INTRODUCTION, The Aesthetics of Sustainability, Eco literacy: Greening Public Imagination, Designing Design Education , and The Culture of Design Education. She is a dynamic keynote speaker and recently presented a TEDx, STEAM by Design.

She co-created the award winning design education network,, that researches, develops and disseminates free design learning opportunities for K12 students, teachers and families. Partnered with Roy Diblik, Garden Educator and Designer (Lurie FLower Garden), she created the Green School Yard Project to encourage integration of outdoor learning environments on school campuses.

She serves as Chair of the American Institute of Architects Alternative Learning Environments, Project for Public Space National Placemaking Advisory Board, Chicago's Metropolitan Planning Council Placemaking Commitee, and Milwaukee's Creativty Education Committee.
