Jessica is research director and principal analyst with Harbor Research where she heads research strategy and specializes in consumer-side Internet of Things. Her current focus is the application of sensors and smart systems in consumer-facing businesses, with an emphasis on customer experience, the ethical use of data, privacy, contextual marketing, automated service, and wearables. She is a regular contributor to numerous 3rd party blogs and news/media outlets. She is also a contributing member to FC Business Intelligence’s IoT Nexus Advisory Board and other IoT industry groups. Jessica is featured on Onalytica’s top 100 influencers in the Internet of Things.
Prior to Harbor Research, Jessica was an industry analyst with Altimeter Group where she covered Internet of Things and contributed to research around other disruptive technological trends such as real-time marketing, social media, and mobile commerce. Before she worked in business and technology research, Jessica's research experience was based mostly in academic anthropological fieldwork, specifically in ethnographic, linguistic, and archaeological research both in the United States and abroad.
When she’s not researching technology and its (past, present, and future!) impact on humans, Jessica can be found playing [rock/jazz/funk] drums, on a run, practicing yoga, cooking, exploring the bay area, or planning her next travel adventure.
