World IoT Day occurs on April 9th. It celebrates one of the most important technologies of the 21st century, which is part of the fourth industrial revolution characterized by AI, robotics, 3D printing, and IoT. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical objects embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies whose purpose is to connect and exchange data with other devices over the internet. Today, we can connect everyday objects such as kitchen appliances, cars, thermostats, or baby monitors to the internet! The day was established by the IoT Council to recognize the power that IoT has to transform our communities, businesses, and lives.
